Thanks, Bill.

The electricity was off a while. We are still blue-roofed from the
last hurricane (RITA). Long story on that, but we are.

Here is a little report I sent out to some friends. Or tried. We
lost power at the height of the storm. We went to bed at midnight
with the local and national weather service saying a tropical storm
would hit around 3 or 4. That part they got right. It intensified
before hitting shore, however, and became a category something
hurricane. Minimal, but yes -- a bit exciting with all the wind
blowing through. I had put up a new tarp over the living room (which
sometimes leaks in heavy rains). I'm happy report that we didn't get
wet inside.

Thanks to you all --and not to worry. We just have some minor clean-
up to in the yard is all. Otherwise, we're safe and sound and have
the day off from work.

Not a bad deal, when all is said and done.

====Wayne's Humberto Report=====

Howdy from southeast Texas,

If you've watched the news, or are watching... everything is fine
here. We lost power... off and on a couple of times. The wind and
storm woke me up around 3:45 or 4 a.m. By 4:30, however, it had
mostly blown through. Minimal hurricane, they are saying. We had
gusts in the 78 mph range.

This afternoon, when I became aware of the tropical storm warnings I
got up on the roof and put on a 2nd tarp over the worst portion of
the roof. (Due to stupidity on my part, our insurance money was
given to a roofer who never showed to do the work... we are still
blue-roofed to this day). We have been having water leakage in our
living room the past couple of rains. I am happy to report that the
"new" tarp seems to have handled the winds pretty well, and none of
the rain came through to wake me up. The last two rains, I would get
drips in the face and one hole in the living room ceiling would gush
-- the ceiling has actually breached in one corner, nearest the front
door. Even that did not leak this morning, in spite of the high
winds and heavy rains.

There are some downed tree limbs, but those landed in our front yard
and mostly in our neighbor's yard rather than ours. There are quite
a few branches and what-not in the road, but not big huge limbs. I
can still hear the wind outside, but it is considerably more calm now
at 5:08 a.m. than it was at 4:15. Around 4 seemed to be the worst of
it. I tried shooting some video footage, but it was simply too dark.

The electricity is on again, but they say some 58,000 homes are
without power right now, including the TV station in Beaumont, which
is running on power generators for the time being. They are showing
some dramatic flooding in the streets of Beaumont, but Nederland
where I live always fares better due to better drainage... because we
are actually closer to the Gulf than Beaumont is. Nederland is about
half-way between Port Arthur and Beaumont. We took a direct hit on
what became Hurricane Humberto.

But other than a little wind and a lot of rain, we seem to have
weathered this one quite nicely. When we went to bed around
midnight, the news was calling it a tropical storm. It gathered up
steam before coming into land. Interesting.

All is well,
Wayne

PS. I don't know when this message will go out. The internet seems
to be down at the moment, though cable TV is working.
