If any of you catch "The Gaither Hour" this week on TBN cable, and at
various times through November on various Christian channels, or any of
the shows called "Together: The Gaither Vocal Band and Ernie Haase
Signature Sound” you can see my ugly mug playing bass trombone. You can
see me, but not hear me, because the studio tracks previously recorded
by Nashville cats supply the sound for the video.
Strange gig - taped last June here in Louisville at the KY Center for
the Arts. We were playing everything, and the singers were singing, sort
of, (not knocking themselves out) but even the live audience was getting
mostly taped sound. I was sitting next to the lead trumpet, a good
friend of mine who plays 2nd trumpet in the LO. He'd be playing his
heart out on the screech notes at the end of every tune, then I'd say to
him "You look good on those high notes, Jim!"
Fortunately, the studio tracks sound good, if rather bright.
Several shots of me, a few shots of Brett Shuster trb prof at U of
Louisville playing 1st trb. I forget the name of the 2nd trb (he's
hardly on camera anyway). A lot of shots of Mike Tunnel, Trpt prof at U
of Louisville, playing 3rd trpt on the end of the row.
