[Trombone-l] Business advice anyone?

You'll need to check the regulations in your municipality, as laws 
differ everywhere.

In my experience (as a non-trombone-related small businessman), I 
doubt that you need to get a Business Tax Registration Certificate 
unless you intend to open some sort of trombone related business 
(like a music store).  Otherwise, just keep track of income and 
expenses and pay your taxes on a 1040.  Being self-employed, remember 
to file estimated taxes to avoid penalties and that you will be 
responsible for both halves of the Social Security tax.  If you 
decide to incorporate yourself as a business, there will be 
additional benefits and complications.  Best to consult a CPA.
