Hi everyone. I sent a similar message out a couple of days ago but didn't
see it show up so I'm resending. I apologize if this is a duplicate.
For those who are newer to the list, I've been around the trombone-l for
many years and still read the digest regularly though posting infrequently
these days. Interestingly, the more proficient I get on the horn, the less
qualified I feel to comment on how to play it! I'm not shy
though...especially when I have something to sell. :-)
Speaking of that, as the subject line says, I received a brand new (still
wrapped in factory plastic and shipped in the factory box) Bach 50B3 Bass
Trombone. I took it out, lubed it up, greased the tuning slides, oiled the
valves, gave the slide a Teflon treatment, and took it for a "spin" in my
living room for an hour or so. This horn is a beauty and the slide is
fantastic. It has that typical Bach response and tone and quite frankly
it's going to be hard for me to "flip".
However, shortly after buying the Bach I ran across a Getzen/Edwards that
was such a great deal I couldn't pass it up. My quite reasonable wife
doesn't understand why I need 2 bass bones when I'm primarily a .500 bore
tenor player only doubling on my .547 once in a while these days and on the
bass even less. So, I've decided since the Bach is the more expensive
horn, maybe I should sell it and recoup some of the other's cost.
The cheapest I've found this horn is $3,700 at an online discounter. I'm
asking $3,500 and will ship for free at that price. Besides being brand
new, this one also has the added value of having the Teflon treatment and a
"professional" evaluation and recommendation - mine :-).
If you want to see a few pics, I've listed it on the Kansas City "Craig's
list": http://kansascity.craigslist.org/msg/435396538.html
I'll probably also put it on a few online sites and the OTJ classifieds,
before sending it to EBay as a last resort.
Give me a holler if you know of anyone who would be interested. I will
certainly guarantee their satisfaction with it.
