A couple of years ago I was playing in the orchestra for the Verdi
Requiem. The acoustics were a little tough, and the four of us in the
low brass were pretty careful whenever the choir was singing at the
performance. The conductor came back after the performance and thanked
us for being so 'sensitive'

I felt mixed pride and shame atthe time. But I did tone it down for the concert, which soundedpretty darn good, and I am still proud of the recording. George
