>From the liner notes to the second album (Project3 PR 5024 SD):
Tommy Newsom, a saxophonist and arranger who has written a great many
warmly swinging original compositions for Benny Goodman and the
Tonight show orchestra, in which he plays, created this unusual piece
as a showcase for the varied musical colors and sounds that can be
drawn from Urbie's 21 trombones. The cascading trombones are used
once again, this time as an opener with the added touch of Phil Kraus'
huge gong ringing out behind the bass trombones. Urbie comes in in
harmony with Tony Mottola's guitar, riding over a galloping riff with
the two trombone teams echoing a figure back and forth behind him.
Near the end, Urbie takes off on an extraordinary display of
virtuosity -- trilling a G above high C and then glissing down to a
low C.
