I had a similar experience, with hearing and digging that recording. I heard the cut on the Internet radio station that I listen to most of the time, kcsm.org a station in San Mateo, just north of San Jose, and south of San Francisco. I immediately ordered the CD, and simply love it.

I have a habit of listening to ever jazz CD that my town library has. We
moved to San Jose, CA, about a year and a half ago. San Jose shares its
city library with the University, here. It’s a pronominal library.
Anyway, I took out the CD, Jazz at the Philharmonic “Body and Soul”,
featuring Nat King Cole and Les Paul. Little did I know, at the time, that
it also featured a couple of “obscure” sidemen, J.J. Johnson and Illinois
“Jackson” (Jacquet).
Out of listening to it, I have even more respect for JJ. I had no idea that
Nat King Cole was so amazing. I had no idea that Les Paul was the electric
guitar player on so many of the Illinois Jacquet’s CDs that I listen to
regularly. This CD is a real swinger. I recommend it to all who would like
to listen to several of the inventers Rock and Roll, playing jazz.
