I use a single valve bass trombone. I tune so that the Ebs are inline in third position. That way, I have a nice low C. On tenors I tune the valve section to second space C. I lose the low F in first but, it doesn¹t sound or lock that great in trigger first. As you can see, any tuning system has its advantages and downsides. Dean Hubbard.
