I apologize if this has been sent twice, or thrice, or quarice:
Hi Marius,
There is a fine 1991 recording of Liszt's Hosannah (from Cantico del sol) for Trombone and Organ, S 677, by Christian Lindberg and organist Gunnar Idenstam on BIS, catalog #488. Other pieces on the CD include:
Liszt: Cujus animam, S 679, from Rossini's Stabat Mater (Rome, 1860-1870);
Gardner Read (USA) Invocation, op. 135 (20th c.) and De profundis, op. 71(1946);
Anders Hillborg (Sweden): U-Tangia-Na (1991)
Petr Eben (Czech Republic): Two Invocations (1988);
Alfred Schnittke (Russia): Schall und Hall (20th c.)
Jan Sandstrom (Sweden): Lacrimae, lacrimae ["Tears, tears"] (1991)
Liszt wrote his "Palm Sunday piece" for bass trombone, but it works on large tenor as well. If I remember correctly, the trombone part ranges from pedal B-flat, with some F-attachment D's and C's, up to high G. The organ part is flashy, but playable. The trombone part requires a lot of air, so don't get too dizzy! The opening chorale is based upon a German chorale, so find the words and translate them, and add the appropriate articulations. (I've got them somewhere.)
Everybody has a gig on Easter Sunday, but there's no reason to be sitting at home on Palm Sunday, what with this fun piece. Add the Liszt/Rossini "Cujus animam" and the Holst, and you've got yourself a nice romantic program.
