I got my horn out of the case at rehearsal last Monday, only to find
it was making the most gosh-awful noise whenever I moved the slide.
I thought I had somehow gotten a huge dent in the slide, it was so
bad. And it was sticking like crazy around the upper positions.
After the initial shock and panic wore off, I realized that my slide
lock had somehow gotten bent and was rubbing ever so slightly against
the slide whenever I moved it out of 1st position. CAREFULLY, I
pried it away and can happily report all is working well again.
You might look at that... it could be anything. I haven't tried
Reka, but I've used those other slide lubricants. I love Slide-o-
Mix, but it's too expensive. Oh, not for me. But my students can't
seem to keep from borrowing mine every week, so I run out way too
often. Just about anything works, as long as you apply it
correctly. I'm back to the tube stuff for now. If I name it, we
might start a thread again.
Ha!
Good luck with the slide,
