I will be taking a maternity leave approximately August 28- November 26th from the Orquesta Sinfonica Monterrey, and the director has asked me to enquire about a substitute.

If this iterests you, please send all inquiries with resume, directly to Oscar Arevalo, OSUANL at intercable.net.

The requirements are a bachelor's degree and professional experience in an orchestra. The orchestra may ask for a CD.

Rehearsal Spanish is easy to pick up, and many rehearsals are bilingual.

Generally, the orchestra pays substitutes per service- there are 6 services scheduled a week, and the orchestra also generally pays for a flight from the States and 2 weeks in a hotel. A 6-service week generally would pay about $200 USD at the current exchange rate.

At this point, I do not have repertoire information, but we tend to do great repertoire w/ the trombones playing 6-8 weeks out of 8 (see osuanl.com for this spring). (A lower stipend of 3 services may be provided for weeks a player is in town but not playing).

There will be some need for flexibility on the dates, due to the possibility of a late baby, or an ultrasound dating that measures early.
