Subject: Suggestion

Dear Mosaic,

Thanks for sending me e-mails about your current and future releases. I am
currently enjoying the new Jay and Kai CD very much. I have a suggestion
which I hope you will follow up on. I would like to see you do a compilation
by the late, great jazz trombonist Carl Fontana. As you probably know, Carl
passed away a few years ago, but he left a discography which most
trombonists and many others would love to see collected on one or two (or
three or four) CDs. Carl was not a leader very often, but any track on which
he appeared is always interesting due to his exemplary soloing.

In my estimation, Carl was the premier jazz trombone soloist of the 20th
century. Though many others could nearly match his unbelievable facility on
the instrument, none were able to play with the same creativity and the
intense swing and drive and humor that Carl demonstrated on every cut that I
ever heard him play on.

Please let me know what you think of this idea. I think Mosaic is the ideal
recording company to do this project.

Thanks very much,

Bill Dinwiddie
