Paul,

Yamaha used to make a receiver for the 321 with a large shank years
ago. It was in the parts catalog, and you could order just the receiver
and replace it for a few bucks. I tried to order one a couple years
ago, and was told that they don't make it anymore. I looked into using
the leadpipe from the 642 or whatever the pro model euph. is and I
remember figuring out that the angles and bends in the pipe just weren't
going to work on the 321. That is my best recollection. Somebody may
prove me wrong. J.c.?

The horn will play fine the way it is. Try something like a Bach 5G
with a small shank on it. Other than that, it is what it is. It may
never play like the big pro model compensating euphonium, but it's a
damn good horn. Almost every doubler I know of uses it.
