[Trombone-l] Trading fours, toasters, sopranobone/slidetrumpet question

Hello!

Got two questions

Sometimes i read suff on the list that makes me feel
more stupid than usual: "Trading fours"?? Whats that?
(In Sweden we dont trade fours very often - we usually
trade with toasters, shields, meatballs and
three-legged dogs.)

Please someone explain what "trading fours" refers to
- how many toasters do i have to put out for a couple
of fours?

My second question:

Playing both trombone and trumpet (or rather cheating
on the trumpet), i guess it would be fun playing a
slide-trumpet, like the Jupiter JST 314L.

It does not seem to have any tuning slide bow: is it
by design tunable with its slide - like - first
position gives a somewhat outa tune, high Bb and the
other end, pos 7 gives a somewhat low H(B).

Whilst writing another solution comes to my mind -
maybe it cant get more out of tune than that i am able
to bend the tone into good pitch - just play it in
tune.

Or is it a toy that just cant be properly tuned in all
conditions?

Best regards,
