[Trombone-l] Case ? - Traveling to Italy and UK

Hi Jeff and Bart,
My husband travels with a checked tuba case ALL the
time. He always walks his case over to TSA and watches
and waits for them to inspect it, and then locks the
case. He lets the people at the counter know right
away what he is carrying and that he has to be present
for the inspection. In 10 years - and even since 9/11
- I have never seen him have a problem with this.
There have been some dings along the way from bag
handlers that don't lke lifting more than 40 pounds at
a time, but the cases have never been re-opened after
he locks them in the presence of TSA. So, for anyone
that wants to checked a properly packed trombone, just
make sure you are present.
Good luck to Bart.
