So sad to have to pass this on, from Rick Frigo:

*********************************************************

To All Our Dear Friends

Darrell and I are sorry to inform you that my Dad Johnnie Frigo died this
morning, Thursday, July 4th at Weiss Hospital from pnuemonia and various
other causes. We're sure you all have wonderful remembrances being with or
playing with Johnnie. Chicago is artistically poorer with his passing.

Our Love To All

And from Joe Levinson:

Very sad news. The world renowned jazz violinist, poet, painter and
entertainer, Johnny Frigo, has died. There will never be another like him.
Like so many who knew him and played with him, I feel a great loss. He was a
true renaissance man, skilled in so much and one of the most humorous
storytellers I've ever known.

His loss will be felt around the world, especially in the world of jazz
violin, where he was a towering figure.
