I once watched the Daddy Yokum's Black Dog Jazz Band at a Connecticut  
dixieland festival.  The tuba player actually loaded his tuba with  
some sort of combustible material.  At one point during a solo he  
triggered an explosion which sent a three foot tongue of flame out of  
the horn.  This is not an urban legend. I was there.

The solo was literally hot.
