[Trombone-l] oil/trombotine lifetime

The roughing up treatment is not what the Slide Doctor recommends. He
recommends just a water based brass cleaner.
After the Teflon treatment I found that using just liquid silicone, as in
SuperSlick, without anything else is enough. That way one avoids the creams,
and the problem of their build up, and one does not need any spray bottle.
When the liquid silicone starts to wear out a little spray can help extend
its use but it is time to use your cleaning rod and another couple of drops
of silicone.
