[Trombone-l] FW: using valve oil as a slide lubricant

I picked up the trombone in college, and not knowing anything at the time (I
was teaching myself), I used valve oil for the slide exclusively.  I found
that it worked fine (what did I know!), but that it did wear off rather
quickly and needed to be reapplied often.  After I graduated, I bought a
trombone, and with it came this strange tube of cream and instructions on
how to lubricate the slide.  That's when I found out how well a properly
lubricated slide shoud work!
