Hi Charlie,
George made a nifty recording of what I would call a legit piece
called 5 Pieces For Bass Trombone that Nelson Riddle wrote for
him. It's scored for brass quintet, 2 trumpets, horn, bass trombone
and tuba. It's quasi contemporary sounding, more legit to my ears
than commercial but a great chart. Dick Noel had produced the
recording which has been long defunct although there may be
a copy floating around. George sounds great as usual! I also
was caught off guard when I looked at the personnel on the
original Ben Hur soundtrack, there was George in the trombone
section, great stuff!
