I can see from the G&W web site, that there is a newer model. It appears
that G&W have created exterior "cuts" to make an appearance of a "rim" and
to show where the "shank" starts. The older exterior cut is pure smooth all
over (one might perceive that it is just the exterior--but really there are
no sharp turns by machining standards--even the edge of the outside of the
rim is not really "sharp") , like older "art deco" designs.
