[Trombone-l] Band Directors-Help needed

Having confirmed that it's a crap idea (I join the concensus) ...
anybody creative solutions?

Since the whole first year of "instrumental technique" will be a wash, I
guess just invest as much time as possible in the musical training bit.
If I was teaching there, the first thing I would consider is running the
whole year with a solfege or kodaly (or Suzuki?) base. I sure wish many
of my high school kids could sing -something- off the page, pitch or rhythm!

A program with all those instruments wouldn't normally want them sitting
around unused for much of the year ... Assuming that all the students
aren't going to buy a violin and a trombone, I would also be concerned
about the massive check-in/check-out of instruments every 30 days, and
the diminishing number of instruments being returned (#$@).

I'll be interested to hear whether or not this pilot 'succeeds' (survives?).
