I see your point Mike, but I honestly don't see all those great players staying to play in a dedicated pops orchestra. 

The audience does support the orchestra in their classical concerts as well - I mean after all, we did do FOUR performances of the Rite of Spring! And all well-attended if I remember correctly.

It's just a bit disconcerting to hear tepid applause. They keep coming though...

They can play for their audience - especially since they seem to support the orchestra (a rare thing) - and save the artworks for another venue. I'm not being crass. Nor am I being sarcastic. It just seems common sense to me.
