Hello all:
For me the main inspirations are:
On tenor trombone:
John Swallow and Davis Schuman (the first vinyl records I own, at the time
that nothing else was available...)
Tomy Dorsey and J.J. Johnson
Christian lindberg
On Bass trombone:
George Roberts - (the first impression was on a great recording of Four
Freshmen with trombone ensamble arrangrd by Pete Regulo)
Ingo Luis - beside being a great arranger he can be heared on (with Ludwig
Nuss):
The Two-Bone Big Band (Mons Records MR 874-314) - In my opinion - one of
the greatest bass trombone recordings!!!
Ben Van Dijk
And I must mention two younger gentlemen who seem to be very inspiring in
their teaching and playing:
Nitzan Haroz -Principal tbn, Philadelphia Orchestra
Micha Davis - Bass trombonist, Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra
Micha can be heared on a CD with Ram Oren: Angel Trumpets and Devil Trombones
A new recording by him is to be released soon on an educational project
coming soon.
Best wishes
Eliezer Aharoni
Former Bass Trombonist, Jerusalem Symphony Orchsetra
