HA! Boy, am I ever flattered to be included in THAT company. How
much do I owe you, Jason?

Seriously.... My mentors have been many, too.

Some kind of order, until I *really* became aware and started
listening for real (in college):

MY TROMBONE HERO'S:
============================================
Jack Teagarden (my first real trombone LP, circa 8th grade)
Trummy Young (whose name I didn't know for a very long time)
Glenn Miller (because his recordings were available, even in the
small towns of Texas)
Tommy Dorsey (ibid, and I bought a method book with his name on it)
Jack Jenny
Urbie Green
J. J. Johnson
Carl Fontana
Frank Rosolino
Frank Rehak
Bill Watrous
Albert Manglesdorff
Slide Hampton
Dave "Stumpy" Steinmeyer

Arthur Pryor
Keith Brown
The Chicago Symphony Brass Section of the mid-60s!
Joe Alessi

Only the tip of the ice berg.
But what a fun question!
