One of my inspirations, especially as a bass trombonist, is Eric Allatore.
He is the bass-baritone for the male vocal ensemble Chanticleer. Aside from
the raging I can do about their recordings (buy them all folks!!!) I strive
to have the clarity, especially in the low register, that he does singing.
All I can say is "Wow!"
Also, although he is a low brass brethren, I consider Gene Pokorny an ARTIST
that inspires me, not only in music, but in thought as well. Very
intelligent, very musical. If you forget specifically what instrument they
play while listening, and you are so taken by what you hear, there is no
greater compliment. Not a tubist, not a musician, but an artist!
Just two out of many...
