Hey, all!
Just wanted to share: Took the whole famn damily to see Cirque du
Soleil's "Kooza" in San Francisco tonight. If any of y'all get a
chance to see it, it's worth seeing for the band alone!!!!!!!

First off: If anybody knows the 'bonehead on this tour, shake his
hand for me and tell him I want an autographed poster of him in
costume. "Why?" you ask... He played 98% of the show. Meaning: Horn-
in-face, at any moment playing bass, then switching to what looked
like an Edwards open-wrap, and taking solos that would make a sailor
blush. Whoever he is, hats off to him. He blew his a#@#! off tonight.
At any given moment he was playing articulate ppp parts, or moña-like
vamp lines, or soaring solos.

The trumpet player.... Aside from playing tight-a@#$@ piccolo trpt.
and solos for days, doubled (or quadrupled) on keyboards and guitar.

The tenor sax player, also doubled on keyboards, flute & soprano. And
was quite skilled in all his presentations, as well.

Oh. And the drummer got a 3min. solo feature between acts that was
extremely respectable. Think "see-through, plexiglas kit with strobe
lights on a rotating platform stage in the center of the house."

The show itself was not the BEST CDS show I've seen. But, the mere
fact that the main configuration was trpt/trbn & rhythm, or trbn/
tenor sax & rhythm, I was aghast at how tight & animated the band was
throughout the performance. Able to play gently-yet-full or blow
walls down as the score calls for.

Thanks for letting me geek out for a minute. Even my bride--a
recovering cellist--rolled her eyes at me a few times, mouth agape at
the acrobatics being pulled off by the band.

If it comes even within 2hrs near your town, while still a bit
pricey, it's worth taking your family to. While they gasp at the
antics of the pixies in leotards doing things many of us have only
drea... NEVER MIND! You'll get a good couple hours geeking out over
some good, live pit work that we've all wished was still happening in
the Broadway circuit.

Oh... And they've memorized the book. No charts on the stand at all.

Cheers!
