Keyword being "usually."  In this case, that isn't what has  
happened.  This slide has a nitch in it (an "in-y") that appears to  
just be a problem in production.  The plating is not worn.  It was  
manufactured with a defect.  I can't complain.  This was one of the  
touring instruments used in conventions all around the U.S. when the  
88H-SGX was first introduced.  I got it for cheap, all things  
considered.

I don't know if it was a production demo... but the problem is  
definitely not one dealing with alignment.
