Hi Marty,

You will not find a Mount Vernon 16M. The 16M was made and marketed starting in the mid 70s. (You might find a Mount Vernon 16 bell coupled to a 16m 509 bore slide?)

Also, Bach never made a coprian bell. Are you referring to a Gold Brass bell??

Marty, the 16Ms are pretty much very inconsistent from horn to horn. Keep in mind that sometime in the 80's, Bach starting putting a more open goose neck on the 16M. So the first 16Ms blow very differently than the current 16Ms.

The 36 is a totally different horn - wider slide and a totally different blow.

  Good Luck!

  Hary

He recently lent me one of his vintage Elkhart Bach 16m's (Coprion bell with
the lacquer stripped, and I fell in love with it....rich, dark, able to blend,
yet cut like a mother when needed.....(played on a 16Mlt in College)
Upshot is, he won't sell...:-)
So...looking for a Mt. Vernon or early Elkhart 16M...a more difficult quest
than anticipated.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate the help!
Also thought about moving up to a 36, but the move from .509 to .525 and
corresponding effect on upper register/endurance worries me.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
Marty

Car keys? Where'd I leave my mind?
