[Trombone-l] Bach 16M

I'm new to the list and an old fart, to boot, so bear with me. :-)
I was a late 70's, early 80's guy...good Jazz lead and solo player.
Turned down a plum grad teaching assistanship (mush to my later regret) and
got a "real" job. Made my pile, and am now getting back in to playing some 25
years later.
I bought into the King 2B/3B minset...have owned several vintage horns, both
brass and SS, but have been working with a wonderful teacher who has corrected
several flaws, the most important being proper breath support and emboucher,
rather than cramming the horn inmy face, which I used to be able to get away
with.
He recently lent me one of his vintage Elkhart Bach 16m's (Coprion bell with
the lacquer stripped, and I fell in love with it....rich, dark, able to blend,
yet cut like a mother when needed.....(played on a 16Mlt in College)
Upshot is, he won't sell...:-)
So...looking for a Mt. Vernon or early Elkhart 16M...a more difficult quest
than anticipated.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate the help!
Also thought about moving up to a 36, but the move from .509 to .525 and
corresponding effect on upper register/endurance worries me.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
Marty

Car keys? Where'd I leave my mind?
