[Trombone-l] Reunion Blues case mod question

One thing that comes to mind is the foam used to wrap & insulate plumbing.
I believe it comes in several sizes and is slit on one side to encase the
tubing.
Not sure if it's dense enough, but maybe.

Check a hardware store or plumbing shop.

Also, there is a foam wrap used to cushion roll bars on off-road trucks,
might be quite a bit more dense and better for this application.

Thanks
Eric

Subject: [Trombone-l] Reunion Blues case mod question

Hello all...

I just bought a used Reunion Blues cordura bass trombone case.
Post-Chronkite, I think. The reason that I say this is that my old
Reunion Blues cordura cases that were bought during the Chronkite era
were set up in such a way that the pouch on the outside of the case
protected the outer edges of the slide to some degree. To my
surprise, on this one I can feel the slide through the cordura of the
slide pouch, totally unprotected. Now, I bought this case...and
several others recently...mainly because I simply have too many horns
sitting around the house essentially caseless and I am tired of
seeing them on the sofa or my desk, but I would like to be able to
use the damned thing once in a while in the real world if it strikes
my fancy to do so.

So...I have a very nice computer backpack that has a removable strip
of fabric-encased protective foam that can be placed on top of the
edge of the computer once it is put in its pocket. Where would I look
for a similar set of foam strips that I could slip into the slide
pocket...or perhaps even fasten onto the removable inner sleeve
itself...to give some protection to the slide?

Any ideas?

Thanks...

Sam
