I just turned on to "late" M Brecker in the past year or so - I had
listened to much of the Brecker Bros stuff in college and was turned
off to further exploration, but somebody gave me a live recording of
him in Europe that was excellent. So I bought up several of his last
albums: The Nearness of You (2001), Directions in Music (2002), Wide
Angles (2003), Some Skunk Funk (2006), and
Pilgrimage (2007). All are fantastic, and both the Directions and
Pilgrimage records were good enough that I set the CD on 'repeat' for
a few listens in a row.
