I own the Bob Brookmeyer set, and heartily recommend it.  Bob's
playing has evolved quite a bit over the years, but these sides from
before he joined the Thad/Mel group are fascinating.

I have a number of other Mosaic sets and discs, and can also recommend
them generally; they do a wonderful job of collecting photos,
discography information, and great music, for a great price.
