[Trombone-l] New Jim Pugh CD

Trombonist Jim Pugh has a new compact disc out on the Albany Records label. Its titled X Over Trombone, presumably pronounced cross over trombone. It has 3 trombone concertos on it. It was recorded with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra directed by Jeff Tyzik.  Pugh and Tyzik are both out of the Eastman School of Music. 

One of the concertos was composed by Pugh. One of them was composed by Tyzik. The third was composed by Nathanial Shilkret, and was first performed by Tommy Dorsey with an orchestra conducted by Toscanini. The Shilkret was the subject of an article in the ITJ a couple of years back. I think this is the premiere recording for all 3 works. 

I haven't heard this CD, or any of these compositions. I have the CD on order.
