Of course you can go back to school at 41. No problem.

Caution, though,  regarding becoming a band director.
You do need to know that MOST (more than half) school  band directors  
leave that profession within 5 years or less.

In fact this is true of MOST public school teachers. It is not just  
music, I'm relieved to say.
The kids really are different now.
Administrators are no better than ever.
The salary is not right most places, and it is hard to be optimistic  
for future salaries for teachers.
Operating budgets are dismal in most states.
It is a long work day, and a long week.
But you will make a difference, yes you will.
