Jim, I don't know if this would work for you, but in our area, a number of
the schools have accelerated masters in education programs. They are
designed for folks who already have bachelors degrees and who want to get
into teaching. You would need to satify the Dept. of Ed. requirements for
HS Music along with the course work to get a Masters in Education. Very
nice since you can go into your position several steps across the pay scale.
Also, Music Teachers are in demand in Iowa so there is a program that pays
off part of your student loans over a 5 year period providing that you stay
in-state for at least 5 years. I believe that classes for a local 2 year
college would also classify. Good luck!

I have been contemplating and now may actually have the resources to persue
the degree that I started back in 1984 - Music Education (High School).
Is it foolish to attempt such a thing now as I would most probably have to
start over since it's been so long? I'm looking at starting at the local 2
year college and then see from there if everything would even be feasible.
Anyone else done something similiar?
Thanks!
