[Trombone-l] sight reading in jazz

My teacher in my first year of college told me to grab a stack of 1st  
trombone parts from big band charts and just read through them.  I  
did it one summer and it helped a lot.  I think improving  
sightreading especially in the jazz idiom is just becoming  
comfortable with the type of rhythms.  After awhile you begin to just  
recognize the same rhythms from chart to chart.  hope it helps
