[Trombone-l] Trombone-l Digest, Vol 20, Issue 4

George,

I would suggest taking a look at what your section mates in the concert band
are playing and also considering the objective of the band. If it is a
recreational activity playing "Saturday in the Park" type concerts and
everybody is playing what they brought with them when the moved south, then
your Bach 16 may fit in just fine. If it is more professional situation and
every one has large bore horns, then you might consider a Bach 42, Conn 8H
or King 4B (all triggerless).
I personally have found a medium large bore (.525) to be a good size for my
situation which is similar to yours.

I would also suggest that whatever you decide to try, check the listings in
the OTJ classifieds which Chris Waage updates every Monday. You can get some
good deals on used horns direct from a previous owner/player, not like on
ebay where you don't know who you may be dealing with. And don't be afraid
of a trigger if you find a good deal, you don't have to pull it! :>)
