This is my first post to this list. I just happened onto this list while
researching possible horns to purchase (after a 22 year absence from
playing). First off let me say that I've gained some great info already
from the list, so I thought I'd throw my .02 cents worth in on this thread.
I haven't heard the CD Wayne mentions, but I have heard Alastair Kay play
Czardas - as a matter of fact you can listen to it right on the True North
Brass's website at
http://truenorthbrass.com/audio/trueNorthBrass/czardas.asx . I first heard
about the TNB last year - my daughter's horn teacher studies under Joan
Watson - TNB's horn player. It is truly an amazing solo that Alastair does.
And the group as a whole is also extremely good. Well worth a CD purchase.
Cheers,
Peter.

One of my all-time favorite trombone CD's is SPECTACULAR TROMBONISTS
from 2002. The packaging leaves a little to be desired, but the CD
and the playing are tremendous, and the name of the CD lives up to
its expectations.
"Incredible Trombone Solos by World-Class Performers"
Joseph Alessi
Ronald Barron
Scott Hartman
Alastair Kay
Dave Steinmeyer
Harry Watters
Titles are as follows:
Special - Joseph Alessi with the Julliard Trombone Choir
Czardas - Alastair Kay with the True North Brass
I Loves You Porgy - Harry Watters with the Janacek Philharmonic
Orchestra
76 Trombones - Scott Hartman with the Empire Brass Quintet
Bride of the Waves - Ronald Barron with the Atlantic Brass Quintet
And We Will Love Again - David Steinmeyer with the Airmen of Note (USAF)
Copyright 2002 by Kaydan Productions.
The graphics used on the cd itself make it look more like a self-
produced CD-R. But you can't deny the talent included on the
recording itself. It's SPECTACULAR!
