Jackie,

I think in your situation, I would put Gordon Cherry's Orchestral
Excerpts CD at or near the top of the list. It contains the low brass
parts to hundreds of standard orchestral works, it is small, portable,
and relatively inexpensive for what you are getting. If you have a
computer of some sort and a printer, you can print out as many copies of
the excerpts as you need, and even let the students keep the copies
since you can just print more. They can practice the parts
individually, and play the parts together for trio and quartet
ensembles. They would probably never run out of music to play in
years. It might not be for beginners, but everyone else can probably
find something in there they are capable of playing.

My 2 cents,

Eric Swanson
