This reminds me of a few years ago when a trombonist friend and I went to an
Alain Trudel recital at Southern Miss (about 90 minutes away from me). It
was a long recital, close to two hours including the intermission, and we
were both starting to nod off by the end.

My friends comment was that the playing was great, and he was doing the best
repertoire available for trombone and piano, and it still just wasn't that
exciting...and we are trombone geeks.

It is a hard combonation to listen to for long periods of time.

Jeff

BTW I'll be performing the Saint-Saen Cavatine op 144 for trombone and piano
on a recital of French music at Xavier University in New Orleans on Tuesday
12/5. ;) I'll be the only trombone and piano piece on a recital of mostly
vocal stuff, I believe.
