16 bit 44.1k is Cd quality.  I have not checked the specs on my old MD.  i
do recall a friend with a newer HD-MD or some such that  had 2GB  discs and
could record in lossy or  lossless format.  I think the lossless it used was
regular .wav .  Your MD might have this, in which case technically, yes that
is CD quality.  If you are really worried about getting high quality
recordings, a good pair of mics into your computer is a better bet, but also
more expensive.

As for recording in 20 or 24 bit at 48K or 96 k, if you have good
converters, I guess it will be better, but eventually it will end up on a 16
bit 44.1k CD.
