I also have a Sony and it works great.
But I don't use it much anymore, and wouldn't buy one again. At home what
little recording I do goes direct to the laptop, and away from home I'm not
recording anywhere near as much as I thought I would. Also it's kind of
clunky trying to transfer the MD recording to anything else.
One of my kids has an iPod and I'm in awe of what that little thing can do.
Seems to me that that technology is the way to go.

I bought a Sony minidisk recorder for my pep band 2 years ago. I
love the technology. And I owned one myself before that.
But you should know there are better choices out there these days.
The new flash card recorders, for instance, are much higher quality
devices and have way more options for the serious recordist.

Check out the Roland. Tascam also makes a flash drive type
recorder... both with flash to CD option mastering.
I wouldn't recommend the minidisc. I was disappointed with ours.
