Tell it like it is, Sam.  Also note that musicians have often been the
courageous ones to challenge crap laws, e.g. Fitzgerald v. Pan
American Airways (1956), where Ella Fitzgerald, stranded in Hawaii on
the way to a gig in Australia, fought to establish that airlines had
to pay damages for that sort of race discrimination (and won!).  I
heard JJ was one of the people who fought to overturn the cabaret-card
system, and plenty of musicians have joined in the struggles over
politics - touring the US South in mixed-race jazz bands, or touring
to war-torn hot spots, etc.
