[Trombone-l] Pomerov

The real issue is that they stopped him from taking it ON THE PLANE
after it had already passed through security, as he was about to board
the plane. They wanted him to "check" it into the cargo hold by letting
their knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing gorillas ever-so-gently SLING
it into the hold with all the other damaged goods.

I've actually had this happen with a computer. Fortunately it was in a
very well padded Haliburton flight case that could be dropped off a
moving truck and still survive. Our horn cases/gig bags are much less
forgiving. AND I care more about my particular horns than I do about a
computer. I can replace the computer much more easily.

To be dramatic: it would be like them stopping you at the door of the
plane and saying your kid can't go onboard they'll have to ride in the
cargo hold.

Being stopped to "have a look" is far less damaging than letting a team
of American Tourister gorillas (security or cargo handlers; French or
American) have at your one-of-a-very-few bread winner! (Of which a
replacement on short notice is nearly impossible to find--as has been
stated MANY times.)

Sorry to rant. Glad you can still find some pleasure in traveling. Me?
I'm considering picking up a used mule and wagon and just blocking out
the month of August to travel back to see my folks. Wish there were a
better way.

Cheers!

Every time my wife and I have flown to Washington from Indianapolis to
go to
Europe, my wife has had to get out of line and they searched her trumpet
case. This upsets her to no end as her picc, her Bb and her Fluegel is
packed in there just "so so" and they insist on the security guards
repacking it. She had to get very upset before the manager came over
and
then he did allow her to repack it. But they have never asked to see my
trombone and we carry them both on!

But coming out of Munich I was stopped by two cute little German women
security guards and they couldn't, for the life of them, figure out
what the
trombone was when it wasn't put together! They really had a hard time
with
the metal straight mute! And my German is so poor that we all had a
good
laugh.

We love to go on tour in Europe I say let 'em stop me and check my
carry on
stuff. I'd rather be discomforted a little in this way. That's one
"right"
I don't mind losing.

I think I'm going to really like my Martin Committee (MTC)

And. . .of course with all this stuff coming out right before the
elections.

. . .of course there is no liberal bias to the Mainstream Media. . .
.nope.
. .no way. . .just listen to me. . .and it is just like - - Dan Rather
is
not lib biased. . .no way. . .who woulda thunk?

The blowback will be bad on this one. . . were all for being pro-Gay
until
we happen upon some schliemeil with an R after his name who we can
crucify.
Hypocrites.

. . .everybody can see this stuff. . . maybe this will be the end of the
party with the. . .er donkey? "Jack*ss" whatever that mascot is. . .
I can

hope, I guess.
