Every time my wife and I have flown to Washington from Indianapolis to go to
Europe, my wife has had to get out of line and they searched her trumpet
case.  This upsets her to no end as her picc, her Bb and her Fluegel is
packed in there just "so so" and they insist on the security guards
repacking it.  She had to get very upset before the manager came over and
then he did allow her to repack it.  But they have never asked to see my
trombone and we carry them both on!

But coming out of Munich I was stopped by two cute little German women
security guards and they couldn't, for the life of them, figure out what the
trombone was when it wasn't put together!  They really had a hard time with
the metal straight mute!  And my German is so poor that we all had a good
laugh.

We love to go on tour in Europe I say let 'em stop me and check my carry on
stuff.  I'd rather be discomforted a little in this way.  That's one "right"
I don't mind losing.
