[Trombone-l] Valery Ponomarev

I'm inclined to agree with many security commentators that much of
what is going on at airports these days in the name of security is in
fact theater, designed to make people feel safer, while actually not
affecting their real security much one way or the other. Noting this,
one writer added that, well, if it improves the psychological
well-being of the passengers, maybe it's doing some good. Could be,
but it may be wise to realize it's not more than that.

There are many measures that could have and should have been taken to
improve security in the US that have never been taken. The Bush
Administration has been much more about talk and fearmongering than
real effective action.
