[Trombone-l] Valery Ponomarev

Looking at the Kos article from a British perspective it seems to me to be
fairly reasonable to see a connection between the ridiculous escalation in
airport security (my mother wasn't allowed on with lip balm!) worldwide, and
the Bush administration's reaction to 9/11.

If the USA really wants to continue to be known as the Land of the Free and
Home of the Brave, then its citizens have to take control of their own lives
back from their government. We're in the same position here in the UK. Our
Home Secretary (Minister of the Interior in most country's terminology) is
certainly talking up the crisis to deprive us of many civil liberties,
including funnily enough (it got a mention in Kos) Magna Carta. There is a
phrase in Magna Carta which grants us the right "to a fair trial before our
peers" or words to that effect.

So I have to say I agree with Sam on this.

Probably best is I go and practice now as I dare say the less tolerant
members of this list will bombard me for saying all this.

Cheers!
