You know, I haven't seen Valery since this was reported. I usually end up on some gig with him every once in a while. But, nothing of late.
He is indeed a bad mother f***er.

It has also been reported on the Jazz Times website, which cites the same
source that was cited here. I have not heard the broken arm story
independent of that source, but I do know that Valery Ponomarev is one super
bad Russian trumpet player that has been working in the NY scene and playing
with Dave Holland and the like.
