When I first switched to bass trombone, I didn't have my own horn. So my teacher, who is the head of the music department at the local junior college, let me borrow the school's bass bone. It hadn't been used in about 8 years or so. Well everthing seemed to be working pretty well, considering the time it had spent in storage. Until I tried to play it....
Sounded awful....Took it to the repair shop to find out what was wrong....Turns out there was a double A battery WEDGED in the crook of the slide.....They dislodged it, and voila!, problem solved.
